CPI - DOE-NARUC Coal Modernization and Carbon Management Partnership Site Visit


Wednesday, June 26 (9am) - Friday, June 28, 2024 (5pm US/Pacific)


NARUC invites commissioners and commission staff to join a delegation to Gillette, Wyoming scheduled for June 26-28, 2024. During this site visit, participants will have the opportunity to:
- Tour Dry Fork Station, a 405-MW coal-fired power plant in operation since 2011 and host to the Integrated Test Center, a carbon capture research and demonstration facility, and Wyoming CarbonSAFE, a prospective large-scale integrated carbon capture and storage project
- Tour the Wyoming Innovation Center, a state-of-the-art testing and research facility exploring alternative uses for coal
- Tour an operating Powder River Basin coal mine
- Converse with local leaders and experts from utilities, universities, and stakeholders regarding technological, economic, and regulatory factors affecting the markets for coal-fired power and coal products

Tours and activities will be scheduled for June 27 and the morning of June 28 with June 26 and the afternoon of June 28 planned as travel days.

Travel reimbursement funding is available to commissioners via the DOE-NARUC NARUC Coal Modernization and Carbon Management Partnership. Travel must be in accordance with federal rules and participants must receive pre-authorization and reimbursement instructions from NARUC before booking.
