In a workshop session, learn about the themes and takeaways from the three Regulators Roundtable sessions on the impacts of wildfire, specifically liability, reliability and affordability impacts, and participate as we begin work developing a regulators’ workbook related to wildfires. This workbook, to be developed through the support of a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER), will help state commissioners with tools to approach wildfire mitigation practices, cost recovery options, various methods for addressing utility wildfire liability, and insurance availability and affordability.
The first hour will consist of a panel of speakers, building from the general session on wildfire, and delving into consensus approaches for coping with changing wildfire risk, such as ignition risk mitigation practices, infrastructure improvements, and regulatory frameworks. The panelists will also discuss the various themes arising from the Regulators Roundtable series and kick off the project to develop a Regulators Workbook. During the second hour, participants, including experts in the field and NARUC staff, will work in small groups focusing on specific topics to be addressed.
